The spread of virtual global teams is today an important step to successfully position companies in the market. Why is this so?

Thanks to the advanced technologies and efforts of many companies in globalization, our daily products show that e.g.: a car consists of components that come from different parts of the world. This is not only limited to the automotive industry, but ranges from our laptops, computers, hair dryers, mobile phones to many things we use every day. Globalization has also made it possible to travel from one corner to another in less than 24 hours. Decades ago this was not possible and it took several months to move from one corner of the world to the other.

There are many reasons why companies adapt to globalization, such as: financial benefits, knowledge sharing, easy ramp-up and ramp-down, lack of resources, temporary needs, etc.

With the development of global virtual teams, the above-mentioned reasons can also be implemented in a supportive way. In order to communicate and work at the highest quality level, it is important to carefully structure the virtual teams. We at eves_ follow a structured pattern and consider the advantages and ways for virtual teams. Our clients also benefit from our experience. The first thing we give our clients is that they cannot hire or buy such teams. You have to build them up and let them develop by themselves.

But what is the best way to start? The first step should be to draw up a plan for how the organization/team should be structured. In addition, however, it should also be formulated why virtual global teams are constructed. Nowadays, it is still the case that employees are worried about their own job and tasks when relocating work abroad. This fear must be taken away from them. Explanations and instructions on the costs and benefits of such restructuring should also be provided.

The reason for shoring is that virtual teams act or work as an extension of existing teams. Both the teams should be working together and not function as 2 independent teams. Furthermore, the existing regional team members should be integrated and given the freedom to decide on their team-members. Involvement in the selection of potential colleagues creates trust, friendly atmosphere, relationship building and facilitates cooperative team-work.

Once the understanding of virtual global teams has been created and the plan for hiring new colleagues has been drawn up, we will start building virtual teams (Part 2 will follow shortly).
